WEB COPY VS. WEB CONTENT

What is web "content"? And how is it different from web "copy"?

Web Content is the information a company posts on its website. The purpose of this information is to establish the company as a thought leader in its industry as well as increase its search engine rankings.

"Content" is typically how-to, technical, or reference information. It relates to a company’s products and is useful to prospects who buy and use such products.

For example, sites selling computers might include articles on new technologies (e.g., graphic displays and CPUs), new software, how-to, etc.

Web Copy, on the other hand, describes and sells the company’s products. On a computer website, each computer model offered would have its own page describing the machine’s specifications and benefits.

It’s unavoidable. You need web copy to sell your products. But great web content will help your company make more sales more often.

What does good web content on your company’s site do?

Good web content takes time and thought. But it’s a good investment in the long run.
