HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO DESIGN A BUSINESS LOGO?
The answer is… from absolutely nothing to thousands of dollars.
And along with this answer is the generalization, “You get what you pay for.”
Here are some things to consider which will affect the price you pay for a logo.
Templates. There are logo design templates available, both as online services or stand-alone software, for little or no cost. Using available templates and clip-art, you can add your business name and you’re done.
The downside with this method is, because templates and clip-art are used by others, your logo will likely look similar to those of businesses who have used the templates or logo service. In addition you won’t be able to trademark the logo’s design.
Custom Design. If you choose to work with a local designer, you’ll benefit from face-to-face consultations to discuss your project. But this comes at a price.
Many designers have gone to working online. Doing so allows them cut costs by reducing their overhead. They work virtually with clients instead of holding client consultations in fancy design studios. Web-based designers will still understand your needs through project briefing forms you fill online and consultations with you by phone or video conferencing.
Level of Service. The cost of a logo’s design increases as more is added to the design package. Things such as the number of unique initial concepts you are offered as well as the number of chances you’ll have to request small changes (revision rounds) will affect the price of a logo’s design.
Think about your use for a logo. If you need it just for a website or a short-term project, an inexpensive online service or stand-alone logo program should be fine. But if you are starting up a full-blown business venture, you’ll easily spend $500 and up to design a unique logo.
So, how much can you expect a logo design to cost?
As much as you’re willing to pay.
